Environmental protection is an integral part of the management of SKZ-U LLP aimed at sustainable development of the company.
The advanced technology of sulfuric acid production makes it possible to minimize the impact on the environment and human health.
The main types of emissions into the environment are effluents, discharges and waste. The Production and Environmental Control Program (PEC Program) operates in the company to prevent or minimize emissions.
In accordance with the PEC Program, the following monitoring of the state of the environment is carried out:
- daily and weekly monitoring – by the testing laboratory of SKZ-U LLP;
- quarterly monitoring – by the contracting organization of “Reactivsnab” LLP.
Indicators of the state of the environment do not exceed standard ones.
An inventory of greenhouse gases is carried out every year. The main source of greenhouse gas emissions are vehicles. The total annual amount of greenhouse gas emissions on average is about 870 tons and it does not require setting quotas.
Researches on pollution and toxicity of vehicle exhaust gases are carried out on a quarterly basis.
Environmental Protective Measures Plan for 2015 – 2017-(EPMP) includes industrial activities aimed at protecting the atmosphere, water and land resources, subsoil, flora and fauna.
In accordance with the EPM Plan, preventive maintenance works on the repair of equipment and structures, road surfaces, replacement of catalysts, etc. are carried out annually.
Works on cleaning the territory of the plant and its gardening were carried out by efforts of the employees of SKZ-U LLP. About three thousand trees, bushes, flowers were planted.
Work was done to establish a system of drip irrigation of greenery at the enterprise.
The EPM Plan was completed by 100% in 2015 and 2016.
“Waste Management Program” (WMP) was developed and approved by the Department of Ecology of the Kyzylorda region. The purpose of the WMP is to reduce the amount and level of hazardous properties of industrial waste.
In accordance with the Program, work is successfully carried out for minimizing the amount of generated waste, its recycling and processing.
Reports on the implementation of the Waste Management Program are submitted to the Department on a quarterly basis.
Research works in the field of industrial waste disposal are being carried out jointly with the “Ecology” scientific research institute of the Khoja Akhmet Yassawi International Kazakh-Turkish University (Turkestan). Fertilizers and soil improvers for agriculture and engineering samples of building materials were obtained. 2 innovative patents were received on the basis of the results of the research works.
SKZ-U LLP successfully implements the Energy Efficiency and Energy Saving – the “Green Economy” – Program. A solar power station is operating, alternative and renewable energy sources are being used with the application of solar photovoltaic systems.
The power of one panel (module) is 230 W
The number of modules is 1820 pcs.
The capacity is 418.6 kWh
The systems for outdoor lighting of the rotational camp are operating.
The average annual solar incoming radiation is 7.5 hours per day.
The resulting electricity savings is 94162.5 kW per month
The payback period is about 5 years.
The manufacturing plant is “AstanaSolar”.
SKZ-U LLP regularly conducts “Doors Open Days”, during which the company is visited by the representatives of the district and regional akimats, representatives of the Department of Ecology of the Kyzylorda region, the elders of the Keyden village and the Zhanakorgan township, the Maslikhat, the media and the public. Positive feedback was received about the plant's activities. Material on the activities of the plant is published in the press.
Thus, SKZ-U LLP fully implements the basic principles of the “green economy” such as:
- the economic growth;
- social well-being of employees;
- protection of the environment and human health.
